Nemo Allen is a Colombian-American filmmaker who examines how people resist and reimagine their circumstances. His short documentary El Bastón, which he directed, shot, and edited, follows the Indigenous Nasa of Colombia as they defend their territory carrying batons in place of arms. The film screened at SXSW, DOC NYC, and the Seattle International Film Festival.

Nemo began his career in journalism at Democracy Now! before reporting on United Nations climate negotiations worldwide. As a cinematographer, his work has screened at the Morelia and Atlanta Film Festivals. His projects have received three National Board of Review awards and been shortlisted for BAFTA and IDA Awards.

He was recently invited to Yaddo as an artist in residence. He holds an MFA in Film from The City College of New York and a BA from Wesleyan University, where he studied literature and dance.
